Peace Out, Knoxville

Well, it’s official…we said our good bye’s to Knoxvegas and it’s day 2 of livin’ on the road! So this is how it feels, huh?  I guess I’m starting off this new way of life like a true roadie, because we have parked the RV in Lowe’s parking lot for the night….boondocking! Today I passed through two states where I’ve never been before, Illinois and Missouri. I hope to step my feet in every state on the map!

For those who may not know it, I am joining a travel Occupational Therapy company. This gives me the ability to combine my love of travel with my love of  my career as an OT. This life change is bittersweet in many ways because I’m leaving my “home,” the beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, but more importantly the friends and family whom I dearly love.  Although I know technology will  help us stay connected, there is absolutely nothing like being in the presence of someone you care about. I will always return back home.  I want and need to have the presence of those people in my life. Plus, when I’m back home I have access to caramel apples from the Ole Smoky Candy kitchen, chocolate cruellers from the Donut Friar, & the infamous garlic rolls from The Best Italian (Guess having this tiny fridge in the RV has me thinking about some of my favs back home). Not to mention some of the best hikes around! And Knoxville, the scruffy little city, is also considered my home. I absolutely love it there – so much so, I bought a home there .

I never even dreamed my name would be mentioned in a blog, much less be a “co-author” of one, but we felt a blog would be an excellent way to take others with us on our journey. So, welcome! I’m learning along the way…because I have already asked Karole questions like, “What is a widget? Is a blog a website? What is a vlog?”

I’m excited to have finally hit the road after so much preparation and to see what God has in store for us. I don’t even have my first travel assignment yet, but I know we’re heading out west and just keeping the faith.

Lowe’s parking lot has lost its glow, and I’m tired from a day of HUGE transition, so I’m hitting the hay (in our bed that is made from the couch).  This is my new space to call home. Goodnight all….
